Ah, Saturday.

It has been a bit of a difficult week, for various reasons, so I’m going to simply put up a picture of a door from a Buddhist monastery in Kalimpong, India. It’s a special place for me, so I feel good about it. Hopefully, you’ll like it too. For those bloggers who take part in ‘Thursday Doors’, this is my rebellious streak showing, by posting it on a Saturday.

I’m like that at times, you know.

Apparently, this is also my 100th post. It ought to be a special one, perhaps posting on some topic of international importance, but I’ll content myself by saying that in just over one year of blogging, I’ve met some fantastic people in cyberspace, and thank you all ever so much for following and liking my posts, and conversing with me on all of these diverse subjects. I’ve met one or two of you in the ‘real world’ (you know, that scary place outside), and hope to meet some more of you in the future.

And here’s to the next year *opens bottle of red wine and pours generous measure*.

  4. Congratulations on your 100th post, Mick, and commiserations for the rough week you’ve had. I love this door – it is completely beautiful. I also love your rebellious streak 😉

    Glad we’ve actually met in the ‘real world’ – look forward to seeing you again at next year’s bash, I hope!

    1. Thanks, Arv. This isn’t really for Thursday doors – I’ve not posted yet there, either. I can think of some absolutely splendid Jaipur doors that would fit the bill, though.
      And i keep meaning to mention that my mother in law lives in East Grinstead, South East England, and she tells me that the Maharajah of Jaipur, some years ago, owned and lived at a big house called Saint Hill Manor, just near to where she lives. Small world!

      1. Mick, I’m not aware of any Maharajah of Jaipur living in England in recent years. During the days when they were actually ruling, going abroad was a big social taboo because of non veg factor. But one of them visited England in early 20 th century to attend a coronation ceremony. Then the last king was educated and raised in the British military school. That was during the mid 20 th century. the one referred by your mother in law must be a descendant of this royalty. it’s quite interesting to come across this piece of information…. Curious it got me. 🙂

            2. Hi Arv. In a nutshell: Saint Hill Manor in East Grinstead, Sussex, is currently owned by the Scientology movement (a rather worrying cult) who bought it in 1959. Prior to that, it was owned by the Maharajah of Jaipur, who lived there during the 1950s.

              1. Mick your information is correct. I searched online for this place it does mention about Maharajah of Jaipur -the last one. The same Maharajah who was enrolled in military school in England.

  15. Congratulations on 100 posts Mick! That’s a bunch for just over a year, especially when a lot of them are more than a couple hundred words. As for the door, I understand some cultures consider red to be lucky, so the next week will probably be easier.

  17. I had a little smile to myself…. yes I do believe that you may be a little ” testy” at times, but that is the artiste in you! And its usually low level stuff. I cant see you doing a Trump and hacking people off just for the sake of it. LOL. BTW – Stonkingly GREAT door. I love it. So is that you way to say ” the door is closed and don’t disturb?
