I’m still here, although you might be forgiven for not realising that.
One or two of you might have noticed, though, that I have been an occasional visitor to your blogs over the last few months, but mostly I’ve kept away from WordPress in that time.
Of course.
Life quite often has a tendency to get in the way of my writing. It gets in the way of most of the things I do, actually.
That’s my excuse.
But I’m still plugging away at A Good Place, my novel set in Northern India about the English left behind after Independence, and am now very close to finishing it. I’m also working sporadically on Echoes and Imaginings Issue 2, now I’ve decided what I want it to be about. It’s gonna take a while to finish, though.
Cos life, you know.
Life getting in the way. What a drag.
But as for posts on here, I just seem to have just run out of ideas for now. It has been rather tempting to post the odd political rant during the last few months, but I don’t do politics on here. It would just make me cross and I’d get into arguments and I don’t want to do that. The point is I haven’t felt I’ve had anything worth writing. And I’m a great believer in that if you haven’t got anything to say, then don’t say it.
So for now, I ain’t saying it.

When you’re ready to say it Mick, we’ll listen carefully. Hugs

Thanks, David, and hugs back. And I’ve just read your birthday post – sending some extra hugs.

That’s such a great attitude, and I wish I could say I follow it as well. Unfortunately in my case when I have nothing to say I compensate by saying it louder.

I’m sure I don’t all of the time.

The muse is working her little socks off, actually, it’s just that the author is dragging his feet somewhat.

Great to see you here again, wondered where you’d vanished. Having nothing to write about is happening a lot with me too these days, so good luck to both of us and happy writing with your book and magazine.👍🏼😊

Thanks, Diti. Yes, good luck to us both!

Mick, it seems you have life in the perfect balance! Concentrating on your writing and life, if it involves a beach that sounds wonderful- with a pint of course! Oh, I’m the same about politics being a non-starter on my blogs and won’t answer on others either about this. It’s already overwhelming enough!

Ah, if only it was like that all the time, Annika. Mostly it’s cleaning and tidying and doing tasks. The holiday was only a week, unfortunately.

I can relate to the everyday chores! 😀 Those moments in between are golden and ones to treasure.

It is lovely to ear you again, Mick, and have seen you around to my delight.
At times we all feel tired or for some reason don’t take the time to follow the voice within. Glad you did today. 😊 .

Sometimes, when I hear birds singing away in the treetops, I wonder if they’re saying much beyond, “I’m alive! I’m here!” I mean, it’s not like they’re squaring up for a discussion of War and Peace. If they can get by with that, why not us?

Somehow puts me in mind of John Lennon’s comment: “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” I enjoyed your quiet reflections here, Mick, gentle relief from the noise elsewhere!

Thanks, Dave. There is too much noise, indeed.

I agree with you about blogging about politics and want to say that I really enjoyed this post. It’s always refreshing to come across honesty and humility – especially when someone writes as well as you do! Not to mention that sense of humor, thanks for the smiles. We’ll see you when it’s time. Meanwhile, enjoy that thing that gets in your way so much. 😉

Thanks, Lynn. My wife does tell me I put too much of my feelings into these posts, at times, I’m never quite sure, but I guess it’s just how I write.
And I think I’d enjoy it more if it wasn’t quite so demanding!
