It seems unbelievable (to me, that is), but it’s now fifteen years since I last visited Nepal. This is just a selection of some of my favourite photos from my trips there. Some you’ve already seen, some you haven’t.

Travelling from India to Nepal
Temple in Swayambunath, Kathmandu Valley
Carved wooden window, Kathmandu
Sunset light on Everest.

Rhododendron forest, Poon Hill
Carrying a load…
Wall of carved mani stones

Nostgic Mick, seems you trekked your fair bit through the Himalayas.
How many times have you come to India/Nepal, South Asia?

Er, a dozen or so times, I think. Possibly more.

Amazing how humans can create homes in the unlikeliest places and get more interesting views than we who live in ordinary streets.

Well, the views really are something else! And the homes are pretty good, too.

I particularly love that temple with the eyes. Someday…

Nepal is probably my favourite of all the countries I have visited, with New Zealand a close second. We are very fortunate to have the opportunity.

Definitely fortunate, yes. My favourite too, followed closely by India and then Oman.

Time flies, doesn’t it? It’s exciting to think that there are some unseen gems that will offer fresh perspectives on your adventures. Thanks for showing us the beauty of Nepal through your lens.

Thanks, Nicole. Time truly gallops off into the distance, before you’ve even noticed it’s got started!

Thanks for sharing your photos, Mick. Do you think you’ll go back?

I’m not sure, Diana. I’ve committed to avoiding flying wherever possible, for environmental reasons, and haven’t flown for eight years now. But I’m strongly tempted to take one final trip out there.

I admire your convictions, though perhaps after 8 years, you’ve earned the trip. 🙂

It looks like a beautiful and fascinating place to visit. And I can’t believe the load that guy was carrying uphill.

It’s an amazing place, Dave. You’d be in seventh heaven with your camera! And yes, the loads the porters carry just have to be seen to be believed.

Definitely worth seeing again. And again!

Love these pictures, Mick! I’ve never been to Nepal, nor will I ever likely go there, but I love your view of it. Just call me an armchair traveller!

I do lots of that too, Jill. Scores of places I’ve only visited from the armchair!

It’s fun … and cheaper than visiting in person, too!

And I know I can always get vegetarian food, no matter where it is!

Such a beautiful and nostalgic series of photos, Mick.
To have visited Nepal at such a time would have been magic, and the one photo I think I could spend hours gazing upon is the “Sunset light on Everest” ~ a mountain full of dreams and nightmares.

It’s one of my favourites. I’ve been quite a bit closer, but there’s just something about that view…
