For those of us who like to travel and have been under Lockdown for a while, the frustration is obvious.
And some of us, I’m afraid, only like to make things worse for ourselves…
Working on my novel A Good Place set in the foothills of Northern India, I’m not only writing about that place, but also referring occasionally to books, websites, and my travel journals on the area. Looking at lots of photographs, both my own and others.
Immersing myself in it inevitably leads to frustration, although I’m making good progress on the book.
I suppose I only have myself to blame, especially for lingering over the photos.
But that doesn’t make it any the easier.
Dammit.
Haha, I know the feeling. Every time I write a post, I miss my travels more. Some day soon, I hope I can get back on the road. By the way, where all did you travel to in India, Mick?

Well, these pictures are from Darjeeling, Sikkim, Nainital and McCleod Ganj, but I’ve seen quite a lot of the north and a bit of the south.

Glad to hear that you’re making progress with your book Mick. I can understand your frustration about not being able to travel at the moment. I find that a lot of my frustration comes from the fact that I’ve been told that I can’t rather than I want to (although I do want to).

there is certainly an element of that, Colin. Forbidden fruits and all that.

It’s a frustration a lot of us are feeling. I’ve been able to make day trips to various wildlife preserves and such, but I’m longing for a real road trip. Of course, my kind of travel will be more satisfying once everyone is feeling comfortable, since visiting with the people I meet is a good part of the pleasure.

I know what you mean. I can get to some nice walks in woods and fields and now, since we can take longer walks, some of the more interesting, fairly local places. But no chance yet of reaching those walks I need a bus or a train to get to,

What great photos, Mick! I want to go there so badly. I can only console myself with the hope that this will all pass and travel will once again be something to look forward to.

The first one is Sikkim, up near Yumtang. The second is Kanchenjunga from Darjeeling, the third is McCleod Ganj, the fourth Darjeeling and the fifth Nainital.
